Training policies
The short version: paid registrations hold seats, safety is not negotiable, and certifications are kept current.
Citizen classes
- Rescheduling within three days of the class: $25 fee
- Cancelling within three days of the class: no refund
Registration and refunds
- Only paid registrations or department purchase orders hold a seat, first come, first served
- Discounts must be applied when you register
- No refunds once a school starts, for a failed course, or for a no-show
- Law enforcement courses: 50% refund for cancellations within 21 days of the start; student substitutions are fine
Who may attend
Some law enforcement courses are restricted to officers (full time, part time, reserve or retired), military personnel (active, reserve, National Guard or retired), DOD or DOE armed security, and State Department armed security contractors. Foreign nationals need written approval from the U.S. State Department.
Standards
Some schools are performance based: a written exam, a qualification course of fire and assigned projects. Miss any one and you receive a certificate of training rather than a certification. Students who are injured or fail to qualify may try again within six months.
Certifications
Law enforcement certifications are valid for three years unless noted. After that, an update class or continuing-education course keeps them current — so clients always carry contemporary training.
Safety
Anyone who becomes a safety hazard or disrupts a class is removed from the course with no refund.
